Cooking

Okay, me again. I can actually see how this blogging thing can get addicting, or maybe I'm just understanding what it's like for the rest of you with Facebook. I think I like the blog better because I don't have to feel stressed about not responding to all of YOUR posts and comments. I can't handle the stress of Facebook yet. Maybe if I had an iPhone and could access the internet at all times. . .

Anyway, back to my original idea behind this post (and this is definitely going to show my inexpertise both with blogging and cooking)--as you all know, I am literally a horrible cook. And I am desperate to have some new ideas and tips. Is there any way I can use your collective wisdom on tips and recipes through this blog? I need them to be pretty easy to make, or to be able to be made ahead of time, or to sit in a crockpot for 12 hours.

I will gladly relay the results for your enjoyment (like the crockpot chicken I left on high for 12 hours and the frozen vegetables I charbroiled last week).

Hope that's not too much to ask. HELP!! :)

A Sterile Environment

I had a doctor's appointment on Friday, and I took CBC with me. After much waiting, the doctor was finally ready to give me my shot. He opened all of his sterile items, and then left the room (which he had done repeatedly during the appointment). Of course, CBC wanted to examine everything he's prepared, so she wheeled herself over there on the doctor's stool. She checked the instruments out while I explained what "sterile" means and why I don't want any germs on any of the doctor's tools ("Don't even breathe on them!"). He came in while she was still looking and I told him what we had been doing. He looked panicky and asked if she had touched anything because he "didn't want to ruin the sterile environment." Now, this is a man with two kids around my kids' age--what was he thinking leaving sterile stuff open to the air with a 7-yr-old in the room?! Good thing OCD girl understands germs!

A True Frenemy

CBC had a sleepover with her friend, Emily, and they had a great time. Buddy developed a serious crush on Emily and, like any good two-year-old, he repeated her name about a million times. Unfortunately, in 2-yr-ese, "Emily" became "Enemy." He's wandered the house calling for "My Enemy" ever since she left.

Boys and Stink

So I've heard that it's really hard to get boys to be clean, but Buddy is a clean freak! He doesn't like dirty hands, dirty faces, or dirty clothes (OCD, anyone? Must run in the family!). Anyway, he took cleanliness to a new level last night. He was standing up on the bathroom counter (yes, I let my kids stand on counters. Awesome parenting) and he grabbed my deodorant, pulled up his shirt, and started using it. Hilarious! I hope that this is an indicator of his future relationship with cleanliness!

Okay, here goes!

Testing, testing, 1 2 3! We're going to see how this goes, but I am going to try blogging. We'll see if this works better than my detailed Facebook entries :)
